What causes an A/B test to be interrupted?

The following could be one of the reasons due to which an A/B test could be interrupted:

  • If a collection or one of its variants that has an A/B test set up has been deleted:
    • Once an A/B test is live, the collection and its variants will be created as separate collections on your Shopify store. For example, as seen from the previous screenshot, there is an A/B test that is live for the collection 'Best Sellers". This test currently has 3 variants (including the current version).

    • From the screenshot below, you can see that there are 3 collections for the 3 variants in the Shopify store
    • Once an A/B test is live, the main collection along with its variants cannot be deleted from the Tagalys dashboard, however, if one of the variants is deleted from your Shopify store, then that will cause the test to be interrupted.

Note: The names of the variants of a collection that has an A/B test set-up will be displayed in the same format as seen in the screenshot above.

  •  If a collection or one of its variants that has an A/B test set up is unpublished:
    • If the collection or one of its variants in an A/B test set-up is unpublished from your online sales channels on your Shopify store, this will cause the test to be interrupted.
    • Please make sure that the collection and all its variants are published.
  • If the collection or one of its variants' handle that has an A/B test set-up has been modified:
    • Once an A/B test is live, if the collection or one of its variants' handle is modified on your Shopify store, it will cause the test to be interrupted.
